In every mythological storyline there is always a need for rescue. or a moment of redemption. and in the middle of the storyline there is a need for a hero. someone to come and save the day. all of our historical mythological stories tell us we need a hero, someone who comes in and saves the day. it would almost be reductionistic to assume Jesus simply fits into this kind of narrative, but that the same the very characteristics of his nature and why he was here demonstrates the reality that he innately was a hero. but even more than that, we all have our own stories we have been given. we are all the hero of our own story if you follow the metaphor.
